Nigel Frith

Nigel Frith is privileged to have been the principal of Drumragh Integrated College in Omagh, Northern Ireland, for over 10 years. He leads an all-ability integrated school, for the 11-18 age range, that strategically brings together students from a range of backgrounds, especially Catholic and Protestant, so that they can learn to tear down the barriers and heal the divisions of Northern Ireland’s troubled past. Nigel is a passionate supporter of integrated education and, equally, believes strongly in the importance of excellence in all dimensions of school life.

Before taking up his current post he worked in four different schools in England, having trained first at the University of Ulster in Coleraine – and after meeting his wife there. His life story is complex and includes being born in Kenya. He enjoys (too much) good coffee, has a slightly odd sense of humour and three of his heroes include Martin Luther King, Jesus and Snoopy.

Nigel has a passionate interest in approaches and programmes that can promote positive mental health in young people. They are struggling to grow up in a fractured and intense world, and so many of them need support. Yet it is much easier to find help for a broken leg than for a broken mind. Nigel believes that so much more needs to be done.
