Congrats in taking the step to earn your Hope Badge. These exercises aim to teach and provide you with a wealth of practical resources and tools for bringing hope into your life and the lives of others. Higher hope corresponds to greater emotional and psychological health, greater academic performance, enhanced personal relationships (Snyder, 2005), and greater overall well-being (Scioli, 2009). Hope is something we all need.
As hopelessness is a major symptom of depression and anxiety, and a primary factor in suicide, it is especially critical those struggling with mental health about Hope. We encourage you to think about the questions, practice the hope principles daily, and encourage and inspire others to do the same. At the end of each lesson, you will find a quiz to aid in your understanding.

This training was developed based on the curriculum Hopeful Minds, a free global program aimed at teaching 7-10 year old children how to create, maintain, and grow a hopeful mindset. There is a full teacher training guide for the classroom, so feel free to expand Hope by bringing it to your community or youth. As we know, it is best to teach these critical skills before the age of 10, where they can be more easily integrated into life. If you would like to stay up to date on our work, feel free to sign-up for our newsletter.
Thank you for your interest in discovering ways you can embrace hope every day. If you have any comments, suggestions, or feedback on this program, feel free to e-mail us as well at hopefulminds@ifred.org.
